It's been nearly a whole month since I updated my journal. I guess not much worth mentioning has happened recently. I am quite busy with all that's going on at the moment, and towards the end of the semester, my Uni course will probably put a lot of pressure on me with all the tasks and essays due in. I just don't seem to find time to just sit down and draw, there's always something nagging me and needs to be done.

The drawing session on Friday was cancelled, as our teacher isn't well. I was actually looking forward to some more proper drawing. The Art & Design course I did before this was sort of a disappointment at the same time as being fun, mainly because all the teachers promoted messy "modern" style art, with scribbly, torn, glued, traced sketchbooks rather than neatly laid out ones and precise sketches.. So even the most amazing artwork didn't get much support, as it was "boring" and not very experimental.

Finally, since everyone has this on their site, I decided to do one too. Stolen from, um, everyone!

1. Why did you join this site?
When I was at college, I used to spend some of my breaks looking through DA, and I got annoyed with the constant ”you are not logged in” pop-up, so I created an account to get rid of it. Of course, I didn’t upload anything of interest then, so I didn’t get more than 1 watcher until January-February the following year, and upload anything proper until June-July.

2. What does your username have to do with you?
Cerona is a character I created for a book I was planning when I was 15. The name has sort of followed me ever since.

4. How many watchers do you have and how many people are you currently watching?
523 people watch me (!) and I watch 83 people.

I chose those 3 beause their art really inspires me and makes me want to improve my drawing. Of course there are so many many more, but these are the ones I look at to get inspiration.

7. What deviant do you admire because of their personality?
There are many people that have really stood out from the crowd with amazing support and personalities.

9. Do you comment, fave, or both?
I usually only have time to fave, but I know how much I appreciate any comments I get, so I try to find time to add a comment or two.

10. What do you typically post on deviantart?
Digital pictures, horses, animals.. I try to broaden my range, and with my current course, I am sure I will be uploading some conceptual design images later on, to add to my portfolio.

11. Do you participate in clubs or contests here on DA?
I’m not in any clubs, but I try to participate in contests.

It's a tie between them, I like them both equally

14. What are the things you wish you could draw better?
There are a lot of things I wish I could draw better. Shading human faces.. I also really struggle shading the chest/shoulder part of horses aswell! There’s always room for improvement.

16. How many hours a day do you spend on DA?
Depends, sometimes I only come on to check messages, other times I can stay on for 2-3 hours, longer during weekends mostly. Most of the time I have it open whilst I’m doing something else, like drawing or absent-mindedly watch TV, but I’m not necessarily browsing all the time.

17. Are you a fast, slow, or medium typer?
Medium to fast I guess? Depends on the situation.

18. What is the most annoying thing people ask you?
Asking how I did a picture or what media I used when I clearly stated in the discription. Or asking if we can be friends. I add people because I like their art or their personality, and friends are made over time – asking about won’t make you one.

19. What is the most annoying comment you get?
When people say they wish they could draw like me. I know, it’s flattering in one way, but also annoying, as everyone starts of at the bottom, but with enough time, practise and patience anyone can find their own style and become good at what they are doing. I haven’t always drawn like this, but I have spent years on end trying. With encouragement from my lovely family and friends I never gave up, even though it didn’t look like I wanted it to. I just wish people would realise that they can too if they put their heart to it.

20. What inspires you?
Everything is inspiration to me. Sometimes it only needs to be a small thing to put thoughts and ideas into my head, like the shape of a cloud. Music is also a great source of inspiration.

21. Do you use any traditional media?
I use my sketchbook and pencil, but other than that I don’t. I got fed up of using charcoal and pastels and other medias during my last course.. So now I stick to pen and paper!

22. Do you associate people online with their icons?
Depends what it’s of. Some people I definately accosiate with their icons, others less. But unless I’ve seen an actual photo of them, I tend to let their icon be a substitute for that.

23. Have you ever suggested a Daily Deviation?
No. To be honest, I don’t really look at the daily deviations. I know it’s a great way to promote artwork, but some are unfairly chosen, and the artist has already got a lot of publicity.

24. Everyone has considered leaving DA once or twice. Have you? Why?
If you don’t include the 9 months of inactivity at the beginning, I haven’t left DA and I haven’t concidered it. The equine community here is the best, and I have found many amazing people and supporters. The constant support I get is what keeps me going, without it I wouldn’t be where I am now.
