Collection of WIP's of my painting Prophecy . Please note that this is not a tutorial as such, just a slide show of the painting progress
Maybe it will be useful to someone!
This was one of the fastest paintings I've ever done, believe it or not! This is the reason why the WIP steps aren't as detailed as they normally would. I never expected it to turn out as detailed as it did, since I was under a very constrained dead line for the contest.
Step 1: Basic profile laid down.
Step 2: Defining the highlights on the lion in block colours.
Step 3 - 5: Working from the bottom right corner diagonally towards the top left.
Step 6: Defining fur in the face with block colours and thicker strokes for general look and feel.
Step 7: Detailed strokes in the face to further define the finer hairs.
Step 8: Drawing and adding various colours to the mane with thicker brush strokes.
Step 9: Defining the mane and ear.
Step 10: Adding smaller details (refining mane/fur and adding whiskers and other smaller details etc). Messed around with the background until I found something that matched.
Step 11: Changing and defining the highlights/shades/hues of the painting for best visual impact.
