My part of an art trade with =HymnsOfMisery. This is of course her lovely character Hymn, a lovely Friesian x Shire mare. I really enjoyed drawing her, such a lovely combination of colours in the mane and tail.
I struggled coming up with a suitable background though. I know =HymnsOfMisery preferrably wanted a foresty scene, but I honestly suck at forest scenes. I thought this would suit the pose and the windswept mane/tail better
Hope you like it

Wow, another amazing piece! Sorry I couldn't comment sooner- I still have a few I need to comment on still in my inbox!
I love the purple tips. I noticed them right after I opened the file! The sheen and shading are done so well, this is gorgeous. I love the galloping position, and the gorgeous background. And I love the birds!
Aww thank you, glad you like it She is quite a special horse, I love those blue tips in her hair. It was a bit hard to imply in the picture though, as no other colours would go with it, so I applied some purple filters again I think it turned out alright in the end, it doesn't look too odd
I love it so much! I love the tips, too. That is my favorite part of her colorings.
Yes, I understand that it may have been hard to fit the purple in with the rest of the picture. Now that I know what filters are, I understand what you mean! The entire picture fits really well together. It turned out incredible.
The shading is stunning, as always. You're great at doing black horses! I love the shine you put in her mane and tail, makes them seem so silky and lifelike. They are just floating in that wind. Her hooves look very polished and glossy. The background is great, those two eagles up in the sky are riding the same gust that's blowing Hymns' hair. And the thin, wispy clouds go well with the windswept theme.
Thank you! I used to hate drawing black horses when I still drew traditionally, but they're a lot of fun now, which is good since many people seem to want me to draw their black horses I had a hard time deciding on the background, but in the end I settled for an open space, to interpret that feeling of freedom.
